Food at School
Lunch, drinks and snacks in school
Lunch times
Hot meals
Our hot school meal provider is Chartwells, who come into school every day to cook the children a hot, nutritious meal. All children in Years R, 1 and 2 are entitled to the hot meal, at no cost, through the Universal Infant Free School Meal scheme, provided by the Government. Menu choices must be confirmed for each day, 10 days in advance by logging into a ParentPay account. If a menu choice is not given then a packed lunch will need to be brought in.
Children in Years 3,4,5 and 6 can also have a hot school meal (which need to be paid for unless they qualify for Free School Meals), however like Years R to 2, this will need to be booked and paid for through a ParentPay account 10 days in advance. Here is a copy of the current menu Chartwell Menu Spring Term.
If your child would like a hot meal but have dietary requirements, please message the Chartwells Special Diets Administrator.

If you have never used the Parent Pay system before then you will need to contact the school for your Activation Code.
Packed lunches
A packed lunch can be brought in if a hot meal is not wanted. It cannot contain:
- sweets
- chocolates
- any nut products as we do have pupils and staff with severe nut allergies.
Drinks in school
Every child should come to school with a bottle of water, which they will have access to throughout the day. Bottles should only contain water, as fruit juice, squash, fizzy drinks are not permitted. For more information on hydration click this link: Hydration for Children.
Fruit/Break time Snack
A piece of fruit or vegetable is available for every child in Years R, 1 and 2 as a mid-morning snack to have at break. Children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 should bring their own piece of fruit of veg in to enjoy.
Can my child bring in edible treats for the whole class?
We are unable to allow sweets or cakes of any type to be brought into school, regardless of the reason e.g. a birthday celebration or end of term treat.
