Global Awareness

Global Awareness

Pupils are introduced to the themes of Global Awareness through a range of opportunities which are encouraged and developed by the school's leadership and a subject leader for the area.

  • RE, Collective worship and spiritual development at class and whole school levels, enable pupils to explore different faiths and world issues.
  • Pupils participate in active global citizenship and an Eco team, with representatives from all year groups, meets regularly to plan and implement initiatives throughout the school and the wider community.  This has included reducing electricity consumption in school, monitoring heating levels and increasing the amount recycled in school.
  • Workshops led by Sussex Green Living have inspired pupils to make a difference. They have joined with other local schools to debate issues such as cutting down in single-use plastic in schools.
  • The school actively engages with the wider community and supports and fundraises for a number of local charities including Issy’s Silver Linings in support of Royal Marsden Cancer Care, Coco’s Foundation, Horsham Refugee Support Group and Springboard.
